LAKHIMPUR: The Raax festival, celebrated in Lakhimpur since Thursday with great enthusiasm, concluded on Saturday. This year, the Raax was staged by as many as 200 celebration committees of various socio-cultural institutions across Lakhimpur with due enthusiasm, including North Lakhimpur and Dhakuakhona subdivisions. Several cine actors and actresses performed in the stages of the district as guest artistes. Barsha Rani Bisaya performed in the stage of Raax organized by Swargam in North Lakhimpur while comedy actor Angsuman Bhuyan took part in the Raax staged by Kalita Gaon of Madhya Telahi. Similarly, cine actress Amrita Gogoi performed on the stage of Dhakuakhona Natya Mandir and Megh Ranjani Medhi and Dibakar Pegu performed in Oyengiya Puberun Yuva Sangha where the artistes of Mising community celebrated the festival.

Batori Butala Parijat Sangha of Salalgaon in the district, the second pioneer social institution staging the Raax in the State, celebrated Raax on Thursday and Friday with a two-day long agenda. Similarly, Khaga Ranga Mancha, Angerkhowa Puberun Sangha Panigaon Pragati Sangha, Bahpati Ranga Mancha and various celebration committees of Nowboicha, Laluk, Bihpuriya, Narayanpur Dhalpur and Boginadi concluded their Raax celebration on Saturday night.

IN DEMOW: The 42nd Padumoni Raax Mahotsav started near Demow in Padumoni on November 22. The two-day festival started with mangal aarti, plantation of saplings, smriti tarpan, Bhagawat Bharmaan, aai naam and Bhagawat Path and in the evening lamps were lit, naam prasanga was done. On November 23, which was the second day of the Raax Mahotsav, the programme started with aai naam and in the evening earthen lamps were lit.

IN SARUPATHAR: Raax Mahotsav at Madhyampur in Sarupathar is a festival which celebrates the divine love of Sri Krishna and Radha. The five-day long festival precedes the Raax Yatra celebrated on the full moon day in the Kartik month. The Raax Mela started from November 21 and continued till November 25.

Devotees get together to celebrate the divine love of Radha and Krishna. The Raax Mela is the most popular annual festival at Madhyampur in Sarupathar. The festival is also celebrated with melodious songs, dance and folk stories. Many cultural programmes were also organized by the committee which provided a platform for singers, dancers and musicians. Many renowned artistes of the State also performed during the five-day long festival at Madhyampur. Various stalls of delicacies were also put up to pamper the taste buds of the visitors. The fair also provided a platform to artisans to sell their handicraft.
