DOOMDOOMA: "Bishnu Prasad Rabha was an indomitable personality in converting challenges into opportunity," said leading intellectual Mayur Bora while speaking as a chief guest in a webinar on Bishnu Rabha Divas organized by Padma Nath Gohain Baruah (PNGB) Government Model College, Kakapather in association with Doomdooma Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samity (DSLSS) on Sunday.

Dwelling at length on various aspects of Bishnu Prasad Rabha's life, he said, "We can draw lessons from him in the face of the current challenges of COVID pandemic." To drive home his point he cited the incident of Bishnu Prasad Rabha not being allowed to enter a Vashnavite place of worship in lower Assam on the ground that he was a tribal. To this, Rabha being unmoved, later gave a fitting reply by drawing the portrait of the great Vaishnava saint of Assam - Sri Sri Shankardeva. "This shows how one can convert challenges into opportunities," Bora. The webinar was inaugurated by Principal, Dr Thanuram Majinder while Dr Meena Devi Baruah, former president, DSLSS, welcomed the guests.

LAKHIMPUR: Along with the rest of the State, Bishnu Rabha Divas was observed by Prabhati Sanskritik Mancha in Lakhimpur on Sunday adhering to COVID-19 protocol.

The agenda of the event kick-started with lighting of earthen lamp and garlanding of the portrait of Kalaguru Bishnu Prashad Rabha by president Anuj Kumar Bhuyan. Then the members of the organization presented Bishnu Rabha Sangeet in the programme which was held under the management of secretary Dipul Tamuli Phukan. In the same programme, the results of the online competition on Bishnu Rabha Sangeet and the creative dance competition based on Bishnu Rabha Sangeet, held in both lower and upper categories, were declared.
