Raihan Shah Inter-college Quiz Competition held at Doomdooma College

DOOMDOOMA: Celebration of 150 years of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was heralded by organizing the Raihan Shah memorial inter-college quiz competition at Doomdooma College on Friday. Altogether, 29 teams from all over Assam took part in the competition. In the beginning Principal, Dr Prakash Jyoti Borthakur garlanded the portrait of late Raihan Shah, who was the former Principal during its initial stage and was a reputed Professor of English of glorious Cotton College, and lit the ceremonial lamp.

Vice Principal Biren Hazarika dwelt on the life and teaching of the father of the nation while president of the governing body of the college Ramesh Goswami spoke briefly about Late Raihan Shah. Of the 29 teams, six teams were selected in the first round through an audio-visual medium nicely organized by Quiz Master Nayan Jyoti Bora. The Tezpur University (Xabarmoti) team was adjudged as the best team of the event. The Dibrugarh University (DU) team (Pandu) won the second and Tezpur University (Rajghat) team won the third prizes respectively. They were given Rupees ten thousand, six thousand and four thousand as cash prize for the first, second and third position respectively.
