DOOMDOOMA: Under the auspices of Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC), the last of the Raij Mel (people's meet) against superstition and obscurantism titled 'Xanskar : Mahuhe Manuhor Babe' was successfully organized in seven of its Aryabhatta Science Centres (ASC) in Tinsukia district on Sunday.

As per programme, a meeting was organized at Ujani Sadiya HS School under the auspices of Sadiya Development Block with Principal Someswar Moran in the chair. The meeting was addressed by Subdivisional Medical and Health Officer (SDM&HO), Dr Ranjit Kakati who spoke in detail against superstition prevalent in the society. Dr Sudarshan Gogoi, Associate Professor, Chemistry, Sadiya College, presented a power-point presentation on the subject.

Diganta Bhajani, District Co-ordinator, ASC, who was present in the programme as observer, was also attended by Keshab Bezbaruah, assistant secretary, Tinsukia District High School Teachers' Association (TDHSTA), and Science teacher Manab Chamua amidst gathering of more than 200 people. In a similar manner, under the auspices of Saikhowa Development Block Raij Mel was organized at Bokapather LP School under the co-ordinatorship of the president of the ASC, Kanaklata Sonowal.

On the other hand, under the auspices of Kakapather Development Block, Raij Mel was held at Chakarajn Jatiya Vidyalaya. Again at Gangabari TE playground, Raij Mel was organized under the auspices of Hapjan Development Block under the presidential of Premendra Sarma. Raij Mel was also organized at Khetujan TE playground under the auspices of Itakhuli Development Block.
