Rail and road blockade in Dhansiri subdivision

SARUPATHAR: Activists of Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS), All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and various student unions and public of Dhansiri subdivision staged rail as well as road blockade in various places of Dhansiri subdivision on Wednesday.

Thousands of activists staged a massive protest in front of the Janasatabdi Express on the railway tracks of Jamuguri protesting against the Centre’s proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. The activists shouted various slogans and demanded scraping of the Bill. On the other hand, student bodies also blocked the roads of Dhansiri subdivision, including Sarupathar, by burning tyres on the road.
