Railway Protection Force conducts drive against illegal activities in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has started a massive crackdown against anti-social elements in Dibrugarh, and so far, 17 people involved in illegal activities have been apprehended. The RPF conducted a drive against littering, throwing garbage, wrongdoing, and trespassing under the jurisdiction of RPF Post DBRG.

The special team of RPF, Dibrugarh, conducted a drive against wrongdoers and trespassers at Dibrugarh station yard (CKW end) and apprehended two persons for taking alcohol near the railway track on September 13.

Accordingly, they were apprehended and sent for a medical examination. Further, both were booked at RPF Post DBRG vide case No. 315/2023 dated September 13 under Section 145(a) of the 147 Railway Act.

“In this month till date, 17 persons have been apprehended and prosecuted after registering 14 cases. Two cases of smoking were discovered, and a fine of Rs.300 was imposed. We have detected 28 cases of littering of garbage, and a fine of Rs 6350 was penalized against the people,” said an official of the RPF

He said, “In the previous month, till date, 34 persons have been apprehended and prosecuted under the registration of 34 cases and fined Rs 11200. We have detected one case of smoking and fined Rs. 200. We identified 96 cases of littering and assessed a fine of Rs.19650. We will continue our drive against wrongdoers, trespassing, littering/throwing of garbage,” said Pavan Kumar, Inspector, RPF.
