HAFLONG: Railway restoration work between Daotuhaja and Phiding will be completed before the target time of July 12 if there is no rain, claimed a representative of the construction company. This portion of Lumding-Badarpur hills section was devastated due to incessant rains during May and considered to be one of the major critical locations. There was heavy seepage of water.

To stabilize that portion, a few hidden drains were to be constructed to stabilize the location. Now it was stabilized and there was no apprehension of being damaged. Moreover, the 2nd phase of incessant rains in June also affected the ongoing works. Under the condition of anonymity, a representative of a construction company who was engaged by the railway authority informed this visiting journalist that repeated change in the plan of work by the railway officials is also a cause of delay in progress in regards to restoration work.

Despite all odds the works are going on in full swing and if there is no rain restoration work would be completed beforehand.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of N F Railway Ansul Gupta reached Daotuhaja locations with several high officials to inspect the progress of restoration work there on Monday. On the other hand, it is learnt that train would run between Silchar-New Haflong from June 28 if everything goes well.
