Rangia election district ready for parliamentary polls on April 18

Rangia: Rangia Election District under No 8 Mangaldai HPC is ready for the parliamentary polls on April 18. Voting for the second phase Lok Sabha polls will get underway on Thursday.

With barely 24 hours to go for the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls on April 18, the Rangia Election District has already moved its polling personnel, including security men and Sector Officers, to 222 polling stations of 56-Kamalpur assembly segment and 226 polling stations of 57-Rangia assembly segments under 8-Mangaldai HPC. There are 3,64,122 voters comprising 1,86,957 males and 1,77,165 females.

The polling personnel left for their assigned locations on Wednesday morning with all the polling equipment and materials. Several fleets of requisitioned vehicles, including buses, travellers, wingers, and other four-wheelers numbering about 350, have already been stationed at the open field in front of office of the Subdivisional Officer, Rangia, for ferrying the polling personnel and other security men.

Over 2,000 polling personnel, including 120 women, will be deployed for the conduct of the polls in 448 polling stations within the Rangia Election District. The entire election district has been divided into 11 zones and 39 sectors for engagement of civil and police officers in each of the areas. Some five micro observers have also been deputed for the polls.

Out of the 448 polling stations, total webcasting will be done in 35 polling stations. There will be altogether four model polling stations under Rangia DEO with some extra facilities and services like water, tea and medical check-up for the elderly and senior citizens. There will be seating facilities also in these model polling stations and 30 all-women polling stations, said DEO Rangia.
