TINSUKIA: The increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in Tinsukia district has become a cause of concern. With a section of people arrogantly defying all safety protocols, even the district administration's punitive action against protocol violators for not wearing masks has gone futile.

With both of them, a total of 30 positive cases, including a one-year child and a two-year old child, were detected on Monday and Tuesday. Out of the 18 cases detected on Monday, six acquired the virus through contact, two through community transmission and the rest were all migrants. Of the 12 cases detected on Tuesday, three were infected through community transmission, two through contacts and rest seven were returnees.
