Ratabari MLA, Karimganj district president test COVID-19 positive

Silchar: Galloping COVID-19 patients across the three districts of Barak Valley have become worrisome for the administration and the health department. All development works have come to a standstill. The already weak health infrastructure has come under severe strains. The 422 bed COVID Ward of Silchar Medical College and Hospital is virtually full. There is no development on the setting up of 200 bed COVID care centre at DSA ground. Nor is there any semblance of identification of land within this town for putting up 1000 bed COVID Care Centre as promised by Minister of State for Health Piyush Hazarika during his visit to the valley nearly three weeks ago.

Additional COVID Care Centre is the call of the time as there is no abatement in positive cases. According to a Karimganj report, the number of patients infected by COVID-19 crosses more than 1500. The pandemic virus has now crept into BJP forte. Ratabari MLA Bijoy Malakar, his secretary and two security guards have tested positive. Along with that Kaimganj district BJP president Subrata Bhattachajee also tested positive. The MLA and District president will have in-house treatment.
