Hailakandi: In view of certain nefarious forces trying to create disturbance in society following the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the Hailakandi district administration has appealed to the people to bring to the notice any objectionable post in the social media for prompt necessary action.

In an appeal to the public here on Friday, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said certain sinister forces are at work to destabilize the society following the passage of CAA by spreading misinformation for their own vested interest. Asking the people to remain alert and to inform at once the civil and police administrations if they come across any objectionable post in social media like Facebook, WhatsApp, and YouTube, Jalli warned of stringent action against the perpetrators as per law.

Seeking the support and cooperation of the public, Jalli urged them to refrain from sharing any objectionable post or video that can incite violence and to help the administration in maintaining law and order in the district. The civil and police administrations are keeping a sharp watch on social media following the resumption of mobile internet service on Friday.
