‘Regular yoga and exercise help to lead healthy lifestyle’

Dibrugarh, June 14: Swami Shivananda Yogajyoti Mahavidyalaya, promoted by Indian Yoga Culture and Yoga Therapy Centre, Guwahati and affiliated to Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health and Sciences, Assam, recently organized a mass-yoga camp at Maijan TE community hall under Lahoal Development Block of Dibrugarh district in connection with the forthcoming 4th International Yoga Day to be held on June 21. More than 100 people attended the camp. Principal of the yoga college, Dr. Minu Buragohain inaugurated the camp by lighting a traditional lamp while secretary Rekha Sharma Baruah, Director of the college, Sunu Roy and Welfare Officer of Maijan TE, Bandana P Baruah graced the function.

Yoga teachers of the college, Mantu Sonowal and Utpal Baruah were the main instructors of the yoga camp who, in a very efficient manner, taught the basic principles of the yoga to all the participants. The camp was organized with active initiatives of the office bearers of Assam Tea Tribes Students Association, Maijan Branch, and Sobesh Tanti, student of the college. The guests present, while speaking on the occasion, said in present times everyone was busy, full of stress and there was adulteration in various commodities which led to an unhealthy lifestyle and multiple diseases in people. “In today’s scenario if someone wants to lead a healthy lifestyle, one has to adopt yoga and exercise on daily basis,” they asserted. The programme also included yoga demonstration by students of Shivananda Yoga Studio and felicitation of four kick-boxing players of Maijan area who won medals in a national kick-boxing championship held in Rajasthan recently.
