SILCHAR: A delegation of CPPWU (INTUC), Constituent Union of JACRU, submitted Notice of Agitation to Addl Central Provident Fund Commissioner (WB&NER) on Friday through Asst Fund Commissioner, Silchar. It has been alleged that the Worker & Employees of Cachar Paper Mill are victimized due to the step-motherly attitude of PF & pension authorities & are deprived of their legitimate rights.

While both Nagaon & Cachar Paper Mill comes under the jurisdiction of Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Guwahati, the authority have taken steps for Nagaon Paper Mill which only shows ugly stepmotherly attitude. As a result the workers & employees of Cachar Paper Mill are seriously being discriminated.

The union though raised these issues repeatedly before the authorities, no action has been taken till date to release the PF & pension.

The union urged the authorities to give up the discriminatory attitude & resolve the crisis within 7 (seven) days failing which the union would be compelled to launch democratic agitation to protect the legitimate rights of the workers.

The union also obnoxiously deplored the irresponsible acts of the authorities who are neglecting their official duties & responsibilities knowing the fact that as of now 95 workers died under various compelling circumstances due to non-payment of salary since last 58 months. The copies of notice were also served to Prime Minister, Minister of Labour & Employment, GOI, Dr Rajdeep Roy, MP & others along with Cachar Deputy Commissioner for immediate necessary action. The union believed that the authorities would take necessary action within the stipulated time to save the workers from hostile discrimination & inhuman exploitation, stated a press release.
