'Relentless endeavour needed to work for welfare of Mankind'

Swachh Bharat Mission brand ambassadors felicitated

TINSUKIA: "Only shouting of slogans cannot build a nation. It requires an innovative plan, adequate strategy and relentless endeavour with zeal to do something for the welfare of mankind," stated Swachh Bharat Mission National Brand Ambassador and former Governor of Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh, Padmanabh Balkrishna Acharya. The former Governor made this statement while taking part in a special felicitation programme and Swachh Bharat Mission (NAMASTE States) brand ambassadors' meet held at Tinsukia Circuit House on Wednesday evening.

The felicitation programme was organized under the aegis of Swachh Bharat Mission (NAMASTE States) Committee and it kicked off with a song on the theme of cleanliness and hygiene presented by Dibrugarh radio artiste Rumi Goswami. Swachh Bharat Mission (NAMASTE States) Assam Brand Ambassador Dr. Sashikanta Saikia delivered the welcome address in the programme which was anchored by Dibrugarh district coordinator Dipankar Sarmah. In the programme, the Swachh Bharat Mission National Brand Ambassador gave warm felicitation to Tinsukia district Brand Ambassador Manoranjan Sharma and each and every member of his 'Clean Tinsukia, Green Tinsukia' team on the occasion of completing 1,000 days of non-stop cleaning drives launched in the district.

The National Brand Ambassador also felicitated Viswanath district SBM Brand Ambassador Kumud Baruah and Dibrugarh based Chikun NGO president Purnananda Bhorali for their relentless initiatives of launching cleaning drives in their native districts. Manoranjan Sharma and Kumud Baruah, each was greeted and honoured with citations from Swachh Bharat Mission (NAMASTE States) Committee. He felicitated other brand ambassadors for their contributions extended to make the nation clean and hygienic. In his lecture, he threw light on how the Clean India Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been able to attract the attention of the world community. He eulogized the noble figures and historic heroes of Assam who had established milestones by their pre-eminent contributions extended to build the nation.

Tinsukia MLA Sanjay Kishan, ADC Gurnel Singh, Dibrugarh city SBM Brand Ambassador Jyotirmoy Hazarika and Lakhimpur district brand Ambassador Ranjit Kakati delivered encouraging lectures. Wife of the National Brand Ambassador, Kabita Acharya, Dibrugarh district convener Dilip Singh and many other dignitaries were present in the programme. The SBM National Brand Ambassador took part in cleanliness sensitizing drive initiated at the Tinsukia ASTC campus on Thursday.
