Reshuffle in Assam Police; Several Officers Transferred

Guwahati:

A reshuffle of top police officers of the Assam Police took place on Friday, May 15.

Jayant Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Guwahati has been transferred and posted as the SP of Dima Hasao district.

Meanwhile, Rosie Kalita, APS, SP, (Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell) has been transferred and posted as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Guwahati. Sumeet Sharma, IPS, Superintendent of Police, (Vigilance & Anti Corruption-I), Guwahati, Assam is now allowed to hold additional charge of Superintendent of Police, (Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell), Guwahati, Assam in addition to his existing duties and until further order. 

Former Dima Hasao SP Bir Bikram Gogoi, APS, and DSP Surya Kanta Morang, APS, have also been transferred out.

Bir Bikram Gogoi has been transferred and posted as commanded 23rd AP (IR), Karbi Anglong and Surya Kanta Morang has been transferred and posted as the DSP of the 21st Assam Police (IR) Battalion in Katlichera of Hailakandi district. Meanwhile, Borkhiri Terang, APS, has been posted and transferred as the DSP of Dima Hasao district.

The reshuffle has come to the fore amid tensions in the Dima Hasao region over the abduction and killing of one Santosh Hojai, a Government contractor and former Dima Halim Daogah (DHD) rebel leader.
