DHUBRI: Under Disaster Management Act 51 and clause 60, Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Deba Kumar Kalita imposed restrictions from Saturday evening in view of the district crossing 100 COVID-19 positive cases.

All shops, markets and malls across Dhubri district will remain closed from 6 PM to 6 AM. However, movement of people after 6 PM has been restricted, but allowed the same with some riders.

Functions, social gatherings, marriages and funerals are allowed with restrictions on number of people attending while some eateries can be opened where packet food will be served adhering to COVID-19 protocol.

Deep resentment prevailed among the business community and general people as the market was closed down on Saturday by the police in a harsh way just five minutes before 6 PM.

"Restrictions will come into force by default as soon as 100 corona positive cases are detected, and people by and large are aware of it. But restrictions on market could have clamped by giving announcement through Fixed Loud Speakers (FLS) in the town at around 4 PM," conscious people of the town alleged.

COVID test and vaccination is going on in the district at various health centres while a testing camp has been set up at Sagolia inter-state Check gate in Dhubri district for the passengers coming from West Bengal and other States.
