The written examinations for Grade III and Grade IV were held in the month of August by the Board of Secondary Education, Government of Assam. The state government wanted to make sure that this recruitment was completely secure and that no discrepancies could happen. In order to achieve the same, not only police but also administrative officers were deployed at examination centres. The exams took place in two halves, the first part being in the morning and the second in the afternoon. And the state administration had disconnected all mobile internet services in the state during examination hours.

The disconnection of mobile internet services received a severe backlash from the public as well. Since a huge number of services are internet-based nowadays, almost everything came to a standstill during these days. Both examinees and examiners found several hurdles to reaching their venues on time as taxi and cab services became inaccessible at that time. Also, all map-based location apps gave inaccurate or no results because of the lack of connectivity. Even food delivery services became accessible during these hours, causing huge losses to both eateries and the delivery staff.
