Revenue Minister Jogen Mohan hands over cheques to pattadars in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR: The Assam Government has already undertaken beautification and construction of an auditorium outside the existing boundaries of the Rangghar in Sivasagar.

The acquisition of the land required for this purpose is almost complete. An ambitious scheme has been taken for cultural display and cultural performance of the indigenous ethnic communities of Assam as well as to promote the heritage of Assam outside Assam by acquiring about 78 bighas of land of private individuals and 5 bighas of government land attached to the boundaries of Rangghar.

Attending an event organized in the premises of Rangghar on Saturday, Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management Jogen Mohan described it as a historic moment and handed over symbolic cheque of compensation to be paid to the pattadars against the acquisition of private land.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the development of the heritage site at the end of the acquisition would make an equally positive addition to tourism. Thowra MLA Sushanta Borgohain, Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bitupan Neog and social worker Mayur Borgohain were also present on the occasion.
