Review meeting held to make National Press Day Eventful

Silchar: In order to make the National Press Day celebration eventful and successful being held here in Barak Valley for the first time, a review meeting was held on Thursday in the office of the Deputy Commissioner. DC Laya Madduri presided over it. The event is being organised under the joint auspices of the State Information and Public Relations Officer and the district administration of Cachar. Kankeswar Borgohain, joint director of DIPRO, and Jahid Ahmed Tapadar, Media Liaison Officer, explained to all present about the preparations made for the celebration at which Hrishikesh Goswami, Chief Media Advisor of the Chief Minister, would grace the occasion as chief guest.

Besides, Parimal Suklabaidya, Forest and Excise Minister, Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MP, Aminul Haque Laskar, Deputy Speaker, and Dilip Kumar Paul, MLA would be present as special guests. The keynote address would be delivered by distinguished journalist and former Director of India Media House, KG Suresh. Six noted journalists of Barak Valley would be felicitated on the occasion. They are Atin Das, Santanu Ghose, Santosh Kumar Mazumdar, Ashok Bhattacharjee, Habibur Rahman Choudhury, and Debdas Purkayastha.

Shekha Dey, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister, appealed to all the members of the Committee to extend all possible help to make the celebration successful. Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner, said since it is for the first time that National Press Day is being held here, it behooves on all of us to see that the day becomes a memorable one.
