JAGIROAD: The Kagaj Nigam Karmi Union (KNKU) of the Nagaon Paper Mill (NPM) here will organize a human chain on December 25 as a mark of protest to revive the two mills NPM and the Cachar Paper Mill(CPM). The president and the secretary of the KNKU Dhiren Chandra Bora and Ananda Bordoloi respectively while addressing a press conference here on Sunday said that the programme is set on the day when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bogi beel bridge near Dibrugarh.

The leaders blamed the Central Government for not taking any decision for revival of the mills since last couple of years. They also expressed concern that if the Government can sanction fund for revival of the Nepa Paper Mill in Madhya Pradesh in the month of October this year then why the Government could not release the fund of Rs 90 crore sanctioned by Central cabinet for the two mills in Assam. The leaders also said that already 47 employees of the mill died of fiscal hardship. Meanwhile the employees of the NPM and the CPM will take out a candle rally on December 24 in the memory of bereaved family members. They further said that if the Central government doesn’t take the matter seriously, then they will be compelled to launch more agitation in coming days.
