Rice-ladden truck carrying 195 bags recovered in Udalguri district

TANGLA: Mystery shrouds following the recovery of a rice ladden truck bearing registration no. AS01CC 4210 which was engaged in duty of carrying Food and Civil Supplies rice from the FCI godown of Tokonkata near Tangla town in Udalguri district to Pub-Rangamati Samabay Samiti in Darrang but was surprisingly recovered from Kachubil area near the house of the owner of the truck after it slipped roadside ditch.

"The truck carrying 195 bags of rice was way bound to Pub-Rangamati Samabay Samiti on Thursday but it didn't reach the destination following which on Thursday evening we informed the departmental officials and Mangaldai Police and also lodged an F.I.R with Mangaldai Police in this regard," said an office bearer of the Samabay Samiti. Sources informed that the truck was kept at the residence of the owner at Khusubil but while it was being transported it got struck in the roadside ditch, following which the owner claiming ignorance of the matter informed Paneri Police.

When contacted Bhergaon SDPO,Nirmal Ghosh said, "We have received an FIR from the Truck Association in this regard and are investigating the matter."

Meanwhile Paneri Police have apprehended the truck driver Mahendra Sudra. The conscious circles have demanded a high level impartial investigation into the matter.
