BONGAIGAON: After flood hit, the farmers of Bongaigaon district are facing a new disaster. This time an unknown disease of rice plants has destroyed a huge amount of rice fields.

This is the incident of Dewangaon area of Bongaigaon district. Talking to mediapersons, a farmer said that since last few days they have faced this new disease of rice plants. "The newborn leaves of the rice plants get affected by this disease as it turns into reddish colour. After the newborn leaves, the whole tree dies," a villager stated. "Major portion of our rice field has been destroyed this year by the floods. But still we tried to grow rice. But this new disease is going to destroy all our hopes," a villager said. The villagers claimed that the district agricultural department has been silent in this regard. "Agriculture department should find out a solution for this disease immediately before our rice fields are completely destroyed," another farmer added.
