DIBRUGARH: Thousands took part in the Adya Shradhha of the four women who were killed in the hailstorm in Kheroni village near Rajgarh town on April 15. The deceased women identified as Labonya Horo (12), Monika Dhan (18), Annie Kujur (27) and Elkonwari Bhengra (40) were killed during the hailstorm when they were trapped under the weight of an uprooted bamboo grove, which fell in the wake of the devastating hailstorm.

The programme started with mass prayers at the community hall of the village. Bishop Michael Herenz of the diocese of North East India of the CNI Church led the prayer service. Members of Sadri Bible Apostolate and Dibrugarh Inter Church Forum, which is a union of all denominations of Christian churches, also took part in the service. They also extended relief to the bereaved family members in the form of cash.

Public homage was also organized for the departed soul. Several local organizations like Assam Tea Tribes Students' Association (ATTSA), All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam and villagers and traders from the surroundings including Rajgarh town paid rich tributes to the portrait of the four deceased women.
