Road blockade at Namti: Locals demand repair of dilapidated road

NAZIRA: A road blockade was staged on Tuesday on the Namati-Khamun Abhayapuria connecting road of Nazira, which has been in a dilapidated condition for over 10 years. Despite repeated appeals to the local MLA, Debabrata Saikia, locals have not seen any improvement in the road’s condition.

In protest, the residents of 7 villages blocked the road by tying bamboo sticks, demanding immediate repair of the road. The locals warned that if their demands were not met soon, they would be forced to take more drastic measures, including intense agitation programmes, in the coming days.

The locals made it clear that they would not tolerate the poor condition of the road any longer and demanded immediate action from the authorities.
