Road Mishap on Knocked Down by A Speeding Truck Claims One Life

TANGLA: In yet another road accident, a middle-aged woman identified as Tulika Sahariah met with tragic death when the motorbike she was pillion riding with her relative Joon Sarma was knocked down by a speeding truck (AS01 DD 0486) coming from opposite side.

Further, a dumper (AS01 HC 7895) which was following the truck crushed the woman to death leaving the youth in critical condition near the Central Bank of India, Dimakuchi branch at Dimakuchi in Udalguri on Friday. Following the incident, angry locals chased the truck, caught hold of the driver and thrashed him before handing him to Dimakuchi police. The incident has cast a pall of gloom in the area. The deceased woman, wife of Dipen Sahariah, a resident of Dimakuchi TE leaves behind her two minor sons. Meanwhile, the injured youth has been referred to GMCH for better treatment. The locals have alleged that minor and unskilled youths are engaged as drivers in commercial trucks and dumpers owing to which there has been a rise of cases of road mishap.
