TANGLA: In a tragic road accident, a youth lost his life after his motorcycle lost control at a road in Udalguri on Thursday evening. The victim has been identified as Siddhartha Pratim Sarma (28), a resident of Milanpur locality of Tangla town, who was a biking enthusiast and a constable in the Assam Police.

As per reports, Sarma was returning from Bhairabkunda at around 8.30 pm after his motorcycle bearing registration number ‘AS01EF0620’, lost control and hit a roadside pole before falling in a roadside ditch.

He was rushed to Udalguri Civil Hospital where he was declared brought dead. The pillion rider Ashim Nath(22) was also injured and rushed to Udalguri Civil Hospital and was later shifted to a private hospital in Guwahati’s Amingaon area. He is stated to be out of danger.

LAKHIMPUR: A woman lost her life in an accident that took place in North Lakhimpur town at around 9.15 on Thursday night. The woman was identified as Sahida Begum, wife of Mahammad Ramjan Ali, an inhabitant of KB Road, Ward No. 13.

As per the report, a Tata Nexon Maruti car, bearing registration number AS-07 N 4265, coming from Dhemaji direction along NH-15, hit at an electric post near Hazarika Market in North Lakhimpur town. Then the car hit the woman who was a roadside vendor of that place. She died on the spot. The front side of the car got totally damaged in the accident while the electric post broke into pieces. After the accident, the driver and the passengers of the car fled from the scene. Later Lakhimpur Traffic Police recovered the car and managed to shift the injured woman to North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital where she was declared dead.
