Road Safety Week observed in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG: Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed and chairperson of the District Road Safety Committee held a meeting on road safety awareness in presence of Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao, Mayank Kumar and other officials at the DC's office on Thursday.
As per the direction of the Ministry of Transport & Highway, New Delhi, the State is observing Road Week from January 11 to January 17. The objective is to create awareness among the general public on road safety issues and to give opportunities and all the stakeholders to contribute to the cause of road safety through various activities.
In this regard, on inauguration of the week-long observance, a rally was organized at Haflong with contribution of leaflets etc. on Wednesday followed by auto rally-cum-meeting on awareness held on Thursday at the DC's office hall. A quiz competition was also held for the auto drivers to test their knowledge related to traffic rules.
Other programmes lined up for the whole week include eye camp for drivers and conductors in cooperation with the health department, DTO, Police and Transport, various competitions, special joint enforcement drive against over speeding, drunken driving and awareness about first responder training.
