Rotary Club of Doomdooma donated a sanitary napkin vending machine

DOOMDOOMA: Under grant received from the Rotary Foundation (TRF) by Rotary International District -3240, which comprises north-eastern States and part of Bengal, Rotary Club of Doomdooma donated a sanitary napkin vending machine, one incinerator and 600 sanitary napkins on Saturday to Doomdooma Girls' High School.

Immediate Past President (IPP) Sujit Kumar Baruah explained various aspects of the project to the students and Dr Ashma Ghaznavi, in-charge, Doomdooma 30-bedded FRU, explained about the menstruation of girls from medical point of view and proper use of sanitary napkins for maintaining necessary hygiene during that period. Sagita Barkakati, Headmistress of the school, welcomed the guests and anchored the whole proceedings. Later, the vending machine was formally inaugurated by Arjun Baruah, a former teacher of the school and president of Tinisukia Zila Xahitya Xabha along with a demonstration about the use of the machine. The coins of Rs 5, which are necessary to operate the machine, were freely supplied to the students by Sujit Kumar Baruah on behalf of M/s Allied Gas Services. The meeting was attended by Dhiren Deka, president of Assam Science Writers' Association, and other dignitaries.
