Rousing welcome accorded to Nalbari- Golaghat cycling team

MANGALDAI: Tremendous enthusiasm was witnessed among a number of social activists and social organization here at Mangaldai on Wednesday evening to accord a rousing welcome to the seven-member cycling team which is heading to Khumtai in the Golaghat district from the Nalbari district.
Retired Major (Dr) Dipam Barman is leading the cycling team with the unique and humble mission to create awareness on maintaining a healthy body with a peaceful mind, particularly among the younger generation. Office bearers of premier non-government voluntary organization 'Manuhey Manuhar Babey', including Shekhar Mazumdar, Ratul Deka, former AASU activist Niranjan Saikia, singer Tara Shankar Saikia, AJYCP activist Bhabesh Kakati, retired Administrative Officer Hari Chandra Sarma and Sangeeta Devi greeted the cycling team at Mangaldai town with a phulam Bihuwan. Officer in-charge of Mangaldai Police Station, Inspector Mukut Kakati, while according a hearty welcome, offered a tricolour to the cycling team.
The cycling team consisting of Kaushik Talukdar and Parag Jyoti Saloi of Ghagrapara, Bibek Barua and Abhijit Haloi of Nalbari, Uttam Dutta of Nagaon and Ashim Das of Bezera, led by Dr Dipam Barman, will interact with the people of the localities enroute to Golaghat to create awareness on proper maintenance of good health. At Golaghat, the team will offer their homage to Swahid Captain Jintu Gogoi and will also conduct a health check-up camp.
