KOKRAJHAR: The vote on account budget required for the months April to July 2020 was tabled in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Tuesday in view of the ensuing BTC election pending notification. The vote on account budget session 2020 of BTC is scheduled to continue for two days.

Doneswar Goyari, Executive Member of BTC, introduced the vote on account budget 2020-21 for four months amounting to Rs 569.04 crore for the period April to July 2020 while the chief of BTC, Hagrama Mohilary left for New Delhi for an urgent matter and the deputy chief of BTC, Kampa Borgoyari is also unavailable.

Meanwhile, talking to the mediapersons, Rawngwra Narzary of UPPL and the Opposition leader in the BTC, expressed anguish at the absence of BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary on Tuesday during the introduction of vote on account budget by the BPF-led BTC government.

Narzary said that in the ensuing BTC election the people would be decisive in electing candidates to get rid of the problem of rampant corruption in the BTC government and Mohilary not being present today to introduce the budget signified loss of his moral courage to face the last Council session under his tenure.

He further said that the BPF supremo was in a haste to declare the names of few existing EMs for the BTC election just to prevent many BPF leaders from leaving the party.

Replying to the question of UPPL candidates, Narzary revealed that UPPL was going to convene the party meeting in Bijni on February 20 and February 21 to chalk out the future course of action and strategy for the ensuing BTC election and the list of candidates from UPPL for all 40 constituencies of BTC would be sorted out.

He also clarified that the door of UPPL was open to take the support of like-minded political parties if needed. “Now the time has come to replace the old political authority in BTC for a new one to be chosen by people’s mandate in order to strengthen peace, brotherhood and co-existence among all communities,” he said.
