LAKHIMPUR: The awareness meetings organized to create awareness in connection with the implementation of the Tea Garden Workers' Financial Inclusion Scheme-2020-2021 (ACBDPS 2020-21, 3rd Phase) concluded in Lakhimpur district on Friday. These meetings had been organized in the 10 tea estates of the district since February 2 till date, in pursuance of the government notification of the Finance (IF) Department issued vide No. FIF 118/2020/Pt/35 dated January 27.

On February 2, the awareness meetings, under the auspices of Lakhimpur district administration, were held at the Harmutty and Silonibari tea estates while the same was held at Dejoo, Dlohat and Ranee Narah tea estates on February 3. On the other hand, Koilamari and Madhupur tea estates organized the campaign on February 4 while Ananda, Chinatolia and Seajuli tea estates organized the same on February 5.

In the awareness meeting organized at Koilamari tea estate, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta, social activist-cum-Lakhimpur district unit BJP president Phanidhar Baruah took part and distributed the allotment letters of the financial aid under the aforementioned scheme. The meeting commenced with Lalita Gowala, the president of Joyhing Gaon Panchayat, in the chair. Block Development Officer of Lakhimpur Development Block, Dipul Chamuah explained the details of the scheme. Addressing the beneficiaries, MP Pradan Baruah stated that the State Government had fixed an amount of Rs. 1000 crore for the welfare and development of the tea estate workers and it would tremendously benefit the tea tribe community of the State. In addition to him, MLA Utpal Dutta, Phanidhar Baruah, BJP Chah Marcha district president Motilal Suren and social activist Manab Deka also spoke in the event.

Notably, the State Government has allotted an amount of Rs. 6,09,20,000 to Lakhimpur district for 20,310 beneficiaries under the Tea Garden Workers' Financial Inclusion Scheme-2020-202 (ACBDPS 2020-21, 3rd Phase). The State Government will ceremonially distribute the third phase financial aid of the scheme in a programme organized at Assam Veterinary College playground on Saturday. Ten representatives from the 10 tea estates of the district will attend the ceremonial programme as per information from the district administration.
