Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala’s play ‘Rupalim’ staged by sanchipat in Morigaon

MORIGAON: Rupalim, written by Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, was staged by Sanchipat, a noted cultural group of Morigaon district, at the District Library on Saturday evening. The ethnic play was directed by Ajoy Deka. The seven-act tragedy focuses on love, jealousy, sacrifice, and social compulsion in its fictional setup amidst the Rukmi tribe. The characters of Rukmi Raja, Moni Mugdha, Mayab, Reng Thiang, Junafa, Itibhen, and Rupalim were fluently enacted by Rishikesh Kaushik, Jitatmon Bharadaj, Bhargab Pol Mahanta, Lakhyajyoti Saikia, Jugpritam Saikia, Luna Bora, and Ristrina Priya Sarma. The performance enthralled the audience in the theater hall.

Earlier, the play was formally inaugurated by District Cultural Officer Angshuman Dutta and senior journalists Dalim Phukan and Debeswar Goswami. The invited guests, Atanu Sarma and Birinchi Sarma were felicitated by Secretary of Sanchipat Gyan Muhan Deka. Jutisha Mahanta was the Assistant Director of the play with music by Sankar Mahanta, choreography by Gun Gun Kalita, scene decoration by Raju Das, light by Nitul Barkataki, sound by Moni Mahanta, and still photography by Dipankar Nath.
