TINSUKIA: A week-long annual NSS Special Camp 2025, organized by the NSS unit of Sadiya College that began on June 25 at Patipather Gaon, Sadiya, concluded on Saturday. Held under the central theme “Youth for Disaster Preparedness and Management,” the camp was marked by dynamic community participation, impactful expert sessions, and deep-rooted engagement between college volunteers and the local residents.
The inaugural session was held in the presence of dignitaries including Dr Bhupen Chutia, Principal of Sadiya College; Buddhi Kanta Misra, Vice-Principal; Gunin Chutia, Secretary of Red Cross, Sadiya; Dimbeswar Thapa, Gaon Pradhan of Patipather Gaon and Dr Nakul Neog, Programme Officer of the NSS unit, Sadiya College. Faculty members and villagers also attended the event in large numbers.
A significant highlight of the camp’s opening was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NSS unit and the village of Patipather, thereby formally adopting the village for a three-year period for sustained social and developmental engagement.
The camp served as a platform for over 30 enthusiastic NSS volunteers to learn, engage, and contribute meaningfully to community welfare. In addition to the educational sessions, the volunteers conducted a demographic and household social survey of the village, offering insight into the region’s socio-economic conditions.
The resource persons dwelt at length on various topics like Snakes and its Associated Myths and Facts, Disaster Preparedness and Management, First Aid and Bandaging, Biohazards, Disasters, Cyber Security, etc.
