Winners in different genres for 2018-19 declared

GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samity has announced the names of winners of a number of awards on different genres of literature in the Assamese for the year 2018-19.

The organization has been organizing competitions in eight categories among the up-and-coming women writers as well as the senior women writers since several years now, stated a release. The awardees in different sections for the year 2018-19 are as follows:

The Sabitri Borgohain Memorial Award for collection of stories went to Dr Leena Deka while Dr Bharati Deka was adjudged second in this category.

While Lati Gogoi was chosen for the Pushpalata Barthakur Memorial Award for collection of translated stories; Runu Barthakur bagged the second position in this category.

The Nip Barua Memorial Award for children’s literature was bagged by Niru Neog whereas Arati Gohain Duwarah was adjudged second.

The Rani Devi Memorial Award for children’s stories based on science was given to Dr Indira Barua. The second position in this section went to Sandhyarani Bezbaruah.

The Swarnalata Hazarika Memorial Award for collection of essays went to Jayanti Das; the second position in this section was bagged by Suwarna Saikia Bordoloi.

The Muktalata Devi Memorial Award for anthology (collection of poems) went to Bitumoni Bora and the second position was won by Jonali Barua.

The Punyaprabha Rajkhowa Memorial Award for novel went to Anjali Mahanta. The second position was bagged by Nilima Bora.

The Kakoli Neog Memorial Award for anthology of jocular (light vein) poems was bagged by Jogeswari Bora Hazarika. The second position was won by Nilima Chakrabarty.

The Jamuneswari Khataniar Memorial Award for anthology (poetry collection) was won by Gita Sarkar. The second position in this category was won by Doli Bora Barua.
