Sale of liquor, gutka, tobacco banned in Biswanath district

Biswanath Chariali: Exercising the power conferred under regulation 12 of the Assam CoviD-19 Regulations, 2020 and under sections 26 (2), 26 (3) and 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the District Magistrate of Biswanath district, Dhruba Jyoti Das has banned spitting in public places, sale of liquor, gutka and tobacco and spitting thereof and pillion riding on two wheelers due to the spread of coronavirus (CovID-19) in various parts of the country and the preventive measures prescribed by the Government of India and the Government of Assam, as well.

Further, he also directed wearing of face cover or mask mandatorily in all public and work places. The order came into force with immediate effect. Any violation of this order will invite punitive action under provision of section 51 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 188, 269 of the Indian Penal Code, an official release said on Saturday.
