Samples of 33 returnees from Nizamuddin Markaz congregation sent for test

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration and District Health Services Department, during the last three days, sent the swab samples of a total of 33 people to Regional Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory, ICMR, RMRC, Lahoal of Dibrugarh district for COVID-19 test in connection with Tablighi Jamaat congregation of Nizamuddin Markaz in New Delhi.

Notably, samples of four Nijamuddin Jamaat attendees with suspected coronavirus exposure were sent to the said ICMR from the district on Wednesday in the wake of the detection of COVID-19 in five persons of the State, who went to attend the said congregation. On the other hand, swab samples of eighteen people related with the same issue were sent for the test on Thursday from the district while the same of eleven people were sent on Friday.

On the other hand, out of these 33 people, 32 were admitted in the mass quarantine facility arranged in the auditorium of the North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital (NLCH), Punjab Hotel and Basudev Kalyan Trust while one has been in isolation ward in the same hospital since Wednesday. Including the 32 people related to Nijamuddin Jamat issue, a total of 38 people have been in mass quarantine facility in the district. The rest six are people from other state. Out of them, sixteen people were admitted in the NLCH, sixteen in Basudev Kalyan Trust while the rest six have been Kept in Punjab Hotel.

Mentionably, a total of 33 people of the district till the day including the person kept in the NLCH isolation ward, were admitted in mass quarantine facility in connection with Nijamuddin Markaz issue.

On Friday, the number of people kept under home quarantine in the district increased up to 3626. The District Health Services Department stamped 162 people of the district on Friday and 211people on Thursday for home quarantine. A total of 70 surveillance teams were active in the district on Thursday with a cumulative figure of 1048 till the day. As per report found from the district Health Services Department, the capacity of quarantine facilities isolated in the district with number of bed is 870.
