Sangbadik Suraksha Mancha, Asom (SSMA) observes 3rd Foundation Day at Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: The Sangbadik Suraksha Mancha, Asom (SSMA) observed its third foundation day at the Golaghat Municipality conference hall with a two-day long programme from November 16 to November 17.

In the open session of the programme, altogether nine prominent journalists of Golaghat district were felicitated in the meeting for their great contribution to the society. Veteran journalist Apurba Baruah, senior journalist Tulsi Prasad Dutta, Nabin Gohain, Upen Dutta, Diganta Kumar Bhuyan, Pabitra Das, Prakash Sarma, and Bichitra Bhushan Kalita were felicitated with gamusa, felicitation letter, and mementos. Later, a souvenir of SSMA titled Swadhin Kantha, edited by Kankan Jyoti Bhuyan, was released by the DIPRO-cum-Assistant Commission of Golaghat, Papu Gogoi.

The foundation day programme started with hosting of the flag by Prabin Kr Das, president of Golaghat SSMA, and Smriti tarpan was done by the organizing committee president Jituranjan Gohain and Bichitra Goswami, secretary of Golaghat SSMA.

Several issues, including the matter of protection of journalists, were discussed briefly in the programme. A discussion was held on the occasion of National Press Day which was inaugurated by working president Jayanta Hazarika. Noted journalist Bhabananda Kalita took part as a special speaker. The open session was held under the presidentship of SSMA president Bipul Medhi and inaugurated by SSMA secretary Jyotish Patir.
