SILCHAR: Under the continuing shadow of COVID 19, a global phenomenon, and the economic depression hitting hard the poor, needy and marginalized people, the call of humanism and humanity has drawn scores of social, religious and cultural organizations to stand by them. Foremost among them is Sangh bodies of Kesav Surabhi Sanskriti, RSS and National Medical Organization. Jointly, they have been carrying on relief works for the last two months. Their humanitarian works covered various villages across the district of Cachar.

According to Abhijit Biswas, organizing secretary of Seva Bharati, their work to distribute relief materials like rice, cooking oil, pulse, potato, onion, soyabeen, tea leaves, detergent soap among others started from the Akura Basti, under Irongmara GP, where 120 members of 20 families were the beneficiaries. Their team on subsequent days moved on to other villages with relief materials and this would continue. Biswas said that they plan to cover villages along Bangladesh border. Champak Lal Akuri of Satkara village under Sonai development block is all praise for the works of Sangh parivar.

55 families of Boaljur village under Bhajantipur GP were happy with the humanitarian work of the Sangh. Usually, urban-based organizations limit their humanitarian mission within the periphery of towns and the villages in the surrounding. But, KSS has chosen to go to interior villages and help those who need the relief most. Apart from that, Sangh outfits have also been carrying out awareness programme among the villages to follow the guidelines to keep them safe by using masks, sanitizers and maintaining social distance.
