Sanjib Kumar Dutta an associate professor passes away in Dibrugarh

GAURISAGAR: Sanjib Kumar Dutta, an associate professor and head of the Department of Assamese, Jhanji Hem Nath Sarmah College in Sivasagar, passed away on Friday at his own residence in Dibrugarh Nirmali village due to kidney ailment.

Born on October 16, 1968, Dutta did his schooling from Dhemaji Boys' High School. After postgraduation in Assamese from Dibrugarh University, he joined in Jhanji Hem Nath Sarmah College in 1997 as a lecturer. He was a prominent poet and wrote many poems which were published regularly in Gorioshi. His poetry book Mass buror ki Din Rati was published in 2012. Despite his ill-health, he completed his PhD under Dibrugarh University.

The college fraternity has condoled the demise of their beloved teacher and prayed for his eternal peace. Various organizations like Jhanji Press Club, Jhanji HS School, Jhanji Girls' High School, Jhanji Lekhika Santha and Jhanji Sakha Xahitya Xabha have condoled his demise. He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives.
