SILCHAR: "Read Sanskrit, speak Sanskrit' is the motivational move of the well admired and well appreciated Department of Sanskrit of Cachar College which has organised 15 day online spoken Sanskrit course cum workshop for teachers and students and all those interested in the study of classical language now being discarded and despised as being irrelevant and obsolete. Those who think of Sanskrit with negative set of mind have no or little knowledge of the language which is the progenitor of all the languages of the country and is called 'Devanagri' or 'God's mother tongue.' The language that has led to the enrichment of vocabulary of scripts and culture should be neglected.

In order to promote and propagate the study of Sanskrit, the Department of Sanskrit of Cachar College, as its head, Shilpi Dutta Mazumdar, Assistant Professor, said, "The short duration course and workshop sponsored by Sanskrit Bharati, a non profit global organisation, is taking the knowledge of Sanskrit to all sections of society irrespective of race, gender, religion, region, caste and age absolutely free." Another objective is to remove misconceptions about the language that has intrinsic divine value. One has to study and understand it without being misled by half educated people with confused mind.

The most active and dynamic teacher, Shilpi Dutta Mazumdar, who has organised literary discourses earlier on the subject, said it opens new vista for all to take advantage of the golden opportunity. Previous knowledge of Sanskrit is not necessary. Dinesh Kamath, all India organising secretary, Sanskrit Bharati, will deliver keynote address for the 15-day free course that begins from December 22 and will end on January 5, 2021.
