Saraswati Puja celebrated with enthusiasm in Udalguri district

TANGLA: Saraswati puja was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Tangla, the educational hub of the Udalguri district, on Thursday.

The day which coincides with Basant Panchami, the first day of spring, is observed as the day of birth of the goddess of learning and wisdom. The educational institutions celebrated Saraswati puja with great pomp and religious fervour. Since morning,students donning their best traditional clothes gathered at the respective institutions and celebrated the puja. Small pandals were also put up in some areas, where the people of locality paid obeisance to the Goddess of Learning.

Tangla College also celebrated Saraswati Puja with great enthusiasm. The students of the college wearing traditional dresses were seen paying obeisance during the puja. Saraswati idols, brought in the school and college campuses the previous evening, were worshipped in the morning hours followed by distribution of prasad.
