Sarbananda Sonowal calls to fight superstitious beliefs, promote scientific temperament

Dibrugarh: While laying the foundation for many developmental initiatives at Bindhakata under Chabua Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) in Dibrugarh district on Monday, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the Government of Assam was working in conformity with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikash and Sabka Viswas’ to ensure all-round development of the people of the State.

The development projects included augmentation of infrastructure of Bindhakata High School, improvement and beautification of DRT road, Dinjan and three other rural roads measuring 2.2 km.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said that the Union Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had been unleashing transformation in every sphere of public life in the country since 2014. Inspired by that, the State Government was also putting in all-out efforts to bring about development in every nook and corner of the state. In this regard, the Chief Minister said that in Chabua LAC alone, the State Government had spent around Rs 150 crore in various development works and welfare schemes.

Recalling his school days in Bindhakata High School, the Chief Minister urged the teachers and parents of the area to instil good moral values in their children and inspired them to study hard. He also made fervent appeal to all sections of the people to promote scientific temperament and put up a fight against superstitious beliefs and social evils.

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Rameswar Teli and Lakhimpur MP, Pradan Baruah also spoke in the meeting. In the meeting where Chabua MLA Binod Hazarika delivered the welcome address, vice-chairman of Assam Gas Company Limited, Indra Gogoi; Deputy Commissioner Pallab Gopal Jha and several public representatives of various local bodies were also present. Earlier, the Chief Minister had also visited a post-flood health camp at Boragadhoi in Bindhakata area.
