Scheme anomalies alleged in Morangi Gaon Panchayat

NUMALIGARH: Allegations have been raised against Morangi Gaon Panchayat under Morangi Development Block in Golaghat district.

The villagers of Morangi Gaon Panchayat area on Tuesday gathered in large numbers at the gaon panchayat office and demanded the officers and workers of the gaon panchayat office to speak up on the allegations. The villagers alleged that the Morangi Gaon Panchayat authorities were indulging in corruption due to which the development works in the panchayat area had been disrupted. The villagers also alleged that there were some anomalies in the job cards of the villagers. Some villagers get money in their bank accounts as wages whereas they have not done any work under any scheme or ongoing works in the panchayat. It is alleged that some corrupt officers and workers of the gaon panchayat manage to put money in the bank accounts of villagers and later they ask for a share of the money from them.

Along with the alleged scam in the job cards, the villagers also alleged anomalies in the IAY/ PMAY houses also. The officers and workers of the gaon panchayat created some fake beneficiaries and helped to build houses under the scheme. Such houses are being used as rented houses now and a share of the rent is also given to the panchayat officers and workers.

The villagers of Morangi Gaon Panchayat demanded an enquiry into the alleged corruption. Villagers came out and gathered in the office premises of the gaon panchayat office to protest against the alleged anomalies on Tuesday. Later, a team of Golaghat Police came and controlled the situation.
