Scholarship distributed to 47 poor and brilliant students of Dhubri

DHUBRI: Like the previous years, this year too Kolkata-Dhubri Sanmilani distributed scholarship to 47 poor and brilliant students of Dhubri at a function held in the premises of Dhubri Hari Sobha on Monday.

The meeting was presided over by Prof (retired), Debasish Bhattacharjee, while president of Kolkata-Dhubri Sanmilani, Dr Sanat Kumar Saha graced the occasion as the chief guest. In the function, a young physically challenged artist, Iftikar Ahmed was felicitated by the Sanmilani and a book written by Shanker Kumar Basu titled Dhubri: Swargadapi Gariyashi was formally released by veteran academician and author of many books, Dr Pratima Neogi. In his brief speech on his book, Basu said that this book not only highlighted the historiography of Dhubri district but also portrayed the social history of Dhubri town since the East India Company period, which was unique in itself.
