Second-level training for polling personnel held in Tezpur

Tezpur: Second phase of training for polling personnel for the upcoming panchayat elections was held on Wednesday at Tezpur College and District Library Auditorium. Altogether 2,040 polling personnel received hands-on training, including instructions regarding ballot box usage along with various theoretical concepts.

Election Observer for Sonitpur district, Tej Prasad Bhusal, Joint Secretary, General Administration department, also addressed the polling personnel and asked them to ensure a free and fair election process in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Deka, Additional DCs Kulen Sarma and Parag Kakaty, master trainers Bidhan Bora and Dipom Saikia were present in training programme. The next training of polling personnel will be held at Tezpur College and Darrang College on December 1 where around 3,684 personnel will receive the second round of hands-on training.

For smooth conduct of the Panchayat Elections, the district administration has divided the district into 19 zones, 82 sectors and 4 sub-sectors and deployed officials in these sectors. On the day of distribution of materials, 19 decoding counters ZPC-wise and 82 counters GP-wise will be opened for distribution and receipt of materials. Polling personnel will be able to collect all information and materials pertaining to polling from these counters on that day.
