Section 144 Cr PC promulgated in the entire Tinsukia district

TINSUKIA: The Additional District Magistrate Monjit Borkakoti by an order promulgated 144 Cr PC in entire Tinsukia district on the eve of Kali Puja / Diwali / Chhath Puja/ Christmas prohibiting the manufacture, sale or use/bursting of firecrackers other than green crackers and firecrackers that generate noise level exceeding 125 dB(AI) or 145dB ( C)pk at 4 metres distance from the point of bursting. The order also restricted bursting of firecrackers between 10 pm to 8 pm the next day during Kali Puja / Diwali, in between 8am to 6 am the next day during Chath Puja.

The order further prohibited use of firecrackers 100 metres from hospital, educational institutions, courts, religious places etc. besides banning in and around the restricted areas of Digboi Refinery, IOC (AOD) installation, petrol pumps etc.
