GOALPARA, July 29 : The Additional District Magistrate, Satyajyoti Baruah on Sunday promulgated Section 144 of Indian Penal Code in the district with immediate effect. This has been done on the presumption of anti-social forces, organisations taking chances to disrupt prevailing peaceful situation in the district after the final draft publication of NRC on Monday. Meanwhile, eight companies of central paramilitary force have been deployed to cover the ninety NSK centres of the district amid which eighteen are very sensitive. Deputy commissioner Bornali Deka has appealed cross sections of people to maintain peace and cooperation and not to believe in rumours.

Kajalgaon: The Chirang District Magistrate Ratul Baruah has promulgated U/S 144 CrPC prohibiting all types of meetings, rallies, dharnas, shouting of slogans, assembly of five or more persons in any public places, pillion riding on two wheelers, carrying illegal arms, use of microphones at outdoor without permission within the district. However, two-wheeler riders carrying women, children below 13 years, old and infirmed persons, executive magistrates, police personnel, army and paramilitary forces and any programmes to whom permission is accorded from the Chirang District administration and Bijni Civil Sub-Division are exempted from the purview of this order. In the order, it is stated that this order has been imposed considering the emergent situation and to save the lives and properties of the citizens of Chirang district.

This order has come into force from with immediate effect and will remain in force until further order.
