JORHAT: Security has been beefed up ahead of the Republic Day celebration. Night curfew has been clamped along the Assam-Nagaland border while security has been tightened at Borhulla ONGC gas gathering station and pipeline between Borhulla to Sivasagar.

Moreover, sniffer dogs have been pressed into service at the parade grounds in the districts of Jorhat and Majuli. Security forces like BSF, Rapid Action Force, CRPF, CISF, and Assam Police commandos are maintaining strict vigil in all the sensitive and hypersensitive areas and in most of the entry and exit points. River patrolling between Neematighat, Jazimukh, and Majuli is also going on, said sources.
