Security beefed up for Independence Day celebration in Demow

DEMOW: As the ULFA (I) has called for a boycott of the Independence Day celebration, Demow Police have beefed up security in Demow and its surrounding areas. According to sources, on Saturday night, a police team led by Shubra Jyoti Borah, Superintendent of Police of (SP) of the Sivasagar district, launched a search operation in Demow Rupahibam Nabil of the Sivasagar district in search of three ULFA (I) cadres. The police apprehended Mahendra Boruah, a resident of Nabil Gaon on Saturday night, and took him to Demow Police Station. After proper interrogation, he was released by the police on Sunday afternoon.
