Security forces apprehended NSCN (K) cadre in Cachar

SILCHAR: Extremism might be on wane due to continuous flush out operations by security forces along Cachar-Manipur borders, but runaway cadres of different fractured militant groups in search of soft targets often fall into security dragnet. In its sustained drive against insurgent groups, security forces apprehended a self-styled sergeant major of NSCN(K) in the village of Namdaimlong district of Cachar under Lakhipur sub division bordering Manipur.

Based on precise intelligence inputs, security forces launched an operation in coordination with state police and brought in its net an active cadre of NSCN(K) and seized from his possession 22 rounds of M 16. The cadre and the recovered ammo were handed over to Jirighat police station for interrogation. The disclosures by the captured cadres provide vital information about the movement of militants in wilderness and help the security forces for pre emptive and proactive measures.
